Strawberry Teas at the International Women's Open

16th June 2007

The Eastbourne International Women’s Open is supporting Breast Cancer Care’s Strawberry Tea campaign to raise vital funds and awareness.  Strawberry Teas will be sold throughout the tennis week (June 16 – 23) and will raise thousands of pounds for the charity.  A donation from every tea sold will go to Breast Cancer Care to help support more people affected by breast cancer.

As the last British tennis player to win Wimbledon, Virginia Wade will be getting in the swing for Strawberry Teas this year.  Talking of her support, she said, “I’ll be enjoying a Strawberry Tea at the International Women’s Open at Eastbourne this year and I hope many of you will join me.”

LTA Tournament Director Gavin Fletcher said: “We’re delighted to be holding our very own Strawberry Tea at Eastbourne this year and hope to raise substantial funds for Breast Cancer Care.  So many of our visitors have been affected by breast cancer so we are very committed to raising funds for a charity that directly benefits them and we know it is a decision they will support us in.”

Prices for the International Women’s Open in Eastbourne range from £16 to £29 with concessionary prices for children under 16 and groups of eight or over.

For tickets call the Championship box office on 01323 412000 or visit the LTA International Womens Open website for more information.
