Well Done Eastbourne Town FC

25 June 2007

The promotion of Eastbourne Town FC to the Ryman League Division 1 South 2007/8 is being celebrated with a reception for the team held by The Worshipful the Mayor of Eastbourne.

The Mayor of Eastbourne, Councillor Mrs Mary Pooley, says, “It is very exciting to see Eastbourne Town and other sporting teams doing so well.  Let’s hope the hard work and dedication the current players and backroom staff put in will help encourage youngsters for the future.”

The club had a successful season playing 38 league matches and winning 27 of them.  The team winning the Sussex County League will see their first promotion in 30 years.

Chairman of Eastbourne Town FC, Rupert Imich says, “This is a huge achievement not just for Eastbourne Town FC but also for the Town of Eastbourne. All those involved with the club should be immensely proud of the part they played.  Ady Colwell and his players have worked tirelessly and professionally both on and off the pitch and will now always be part of the history of Eastbourne Town FC.”

Eastbourne Town regularly play at their home ground, The Saffrons, and were the founding members of the Sussex County Football League in 1920.

The first team squad play in yellow shirts with blue shorts and carry the town’s Borough Crest on their kit.  As well as the first team, there are a number of other teams including ladies, reserves and teams for girls and boys.
