Chorale Concerts Make Eastbourne’s Bandstand Busiest in the UK
Eastbourne’s stunning Bandstand is now the premiere venue of its kind in the UK, with a concert every evening of the week. Thanks to the addition of weekly chorale concerts on Tuesday nights, the Bandstand is now hosting a daily evening concert for the first time in over 20 years.
The new chorale concerts, showcasing the perfect harmonies of local group Concentus Chorale, guarantee a truly magical West End musical experience. The shows will feature songs from favourite West End shows such as Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables, as well as music from current hits like Mamma Mia and Chicago.
Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Member for Economy, Tourism & Environment, Councillor Steve Wallis said “Eastbourne should be very proud of its wonderfully preserved 1930’s Bandstand. Not only is it a unique venue, but it offers something for everyone in its lively concert programme, from pop tribute concerts and rock and roll to military brass and classical.”
Next week’s packed programme gets off to a great start with Lewes, Glynde and Beddingham Brass on Saturday afternoon (30th June), with The Hustlers stepping up the beat in the evening for Rock N Roll night. The Southdown Concert Band provide Sunday afternoon’s entertainment, and the East Grinstead Concert Band perform Sunday Night at the Proms with flag waving aplenty.
Monday is Gilbert & Sullivan night and Tuesday sees the first of the regular West End musicals with Concentus Chorale. Wednesday’s 1812 Firework Concert is given by the East Sussex Concert Band and Thursday is Big Band Night with the Johnny Spice Swing Orchestra. The week rounds off on 6th July with the hugely popular Friday tribute show, this time featuring The Shadows tribute band Lost 4 Words.
Tickets are available at the door. Alternatively advance tickets for Tribute nights and 1812 concerts only can be purchased from the Tourist Information Centre or by calling the Box Office on 01323 412000 (concessions available).
