Representatives of Nanning City in China will attend a Reception in The Mayor’s Parlour on 10 July 2007. The Civic Reception is part of a cultural visit to Eastbourne following a visit to China last year by the former Mayor, Councillor Colin Belsey.
The Worshipful the Mayor of Eastbourne, Councillor Mrs Pooley, says, “The cultural benefits to our two towns are immense, and hopefully this visit will encourage links between education establishments in the towns. This visit has only come about by the hard work of the previous Mayor and his colleagues on their visit to China last year.”
The delegates were invited to Eastbourne last year while the former Mayor was on a visit to China. While visiting Eastbourne they will tour parts of London, visit some local schools and colleges, tour the Town Hall and plant a tree in Hampden Park.
The cultural exchange will increase links between the two towns and reinforce the Friendship Agreement that was signed in China last year.
