Expect rousing music and fantastic fireworks as the Kent Police Band perform a variety of music at Eastbourne’s Bandstand on Wednesday 11th July, culminating in Tchaikowsky’s 1812 Overture set to fireworks. The Band’s mixed programme includes everything from classical Mozart to the sprightly Clog Dance, as well as an audience participation number featuring World War II songs.
The weekly Wednesday evening 1812 Concerts feature a different band each week playing their own selection of music, but always ending with Tchaikowsky’s famous overture accompanied by a flurry of fireworks.
Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Member for Economy, Tourism & Environment, Councillor Steve Wallis said “We’re really pleased to be welcoming the return of the Kent Police Band to the Bandstand. The 1812 Concerts feature something for everyone, performed by top quality musicians. And where better to enjoy the magical combination of music and fireworks than Eastbourne’s unique seafront Bandstand?”
The rest of this week’s packed Bandstand programme kicks off with Mid Sussex Brass providing an Afternoon on Broadway on Saturday afternoon (7th July), followed by Rock N Roll Night with the Midnight Flyers in the evening. The Lingfield Silver Band provide Sunday afternoon’s entertainment, while Lewes, Glynde & Beddingham Brass perform the regular Sunday Night on the Proms.
Monday is Gilbert & Sullivan Night and the new West End musical chorale concerts continue on Tuesday evenings with Concentus Chorale. Thursday’s Big Band Night features the High Society Dance Band and the week rounds off with the Fab 4 Beatles Tribute on Friday 13th July.
