Eastbourne Arndale Centre Manager, Bill Plumridge, will be handing over the donations from the Christmas Wishing Well Appeal to the Mayor’s chosen charity - the Eastbourne Lifeboats. The Wishing Well formed part of the festive display in the centre of the Arndale during the Christmas period.
The Worshipful the Mayor of Eastbourne, Councillor Colin Belsey, says, “It was great news when Bill Plumridge told me The Eastbourne Arndale Centre were supporting The Mayor’s Charity this year, The Eastbourne Lifeboat for their Christmas Wishing Well Appeal.
We all know what a worthy cause this is and it was good to see so many people throwing in their coins when I too was shopping for Christmas. As ever I can only say how grateful we all are for the continued generosity of Eastbourne Residents.”
The Mayor’s chosen charity is the Eastbourne RNLI who will receive all the money the Mayor raises during his Mayoral year.
THe Mayor added, "I am amazed at the continual generosity of Eastbourne. To be presented with a cheque for £5000 pounds from donations from the wishing well at the Arndale Centre is amazing.
I am deeply grateful to Bill and his colleagues at the Arndale for allowing this year's appeal to go to the Mayor’s charity. Thank you all so much."
Tickets are already on sale for the Mayor’s Charity Ball on March 23 2007 at the Winter Garden.
The cheque presentation took place on Wednesday 31 January 2007 at 11am in the Mayor's Parlour.
