11 January 2007
Now the festive period is over the annual problem of what to do with all your Christmas cards and that real Christmas tree is rearing its head. There are several sites around the town where these can be taken.
Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Spokesperson for the Environment, Tourism and Economy, Councillor David Elkin, says, “With recycling every little bit helps so please, please recycle for Eastbourne, both Christmas cards and trees, and thank you for your support during 2006.”
W H Smith’s in Terminus Road and Tesco’s in Lottbridge Drove are accepting Christmas cards for recycling until the 31 January. Alternatively they can be taken to any of the cardboard banks at the following bring sites:
ASDA, Pevensey Bay Road
Fishermans Greens Car Park, Royal Parade
Langney Shopping Centre, Kingfisher Drive
Tesco, Lottbridge Drove
Sainsburys, Cross Levels Way
Wartling Road, off of the Sovereign Roundabout
Real Christmas trees can be composted. You can do this in your garden or the trees can be taken to the Household Waste Recycling Site in St. Philips Avenue or to any of our Green Garden Waste Bring Sites which are open Saturday mornings at the following sites:
Paradise Drive, near Compton Place Road, Sussex Downs College, off Cross Levels Way | January 13 January 27 |
Fishermans Green Car Park, Royal Parade, Sevenoaks Car Park, near Goudhurst Close | January 20 February 3 |
If you have opted-in for the green waste collection scheme then any Christmas trees with stumps no larger then six inches in diameter can be put in your green wheelie bin. Please remember to ensure that all decorations are removed from the tree first!
