In October last year Eastbourne Borough Council together with SITA sent out 3,000 annual Satisfaction Survey Questionnaires to randomly selected households within the Borough. Just over 1,000 of the questionnaires were returned.
With the intention of improving services provided by the Council’s refuse and street cleansing contractor residents were asked to give their views on refuse collection, street sweeping and recycling.
The results showed that 95% of the residents who completed the questionnaire were either satisfied or very satisfied with the refuse collection service, with some 81% being either satisfied or very satisfied with recycling service and 82% being either satisfied or very satisfied with the street cleansing service.
Eastbourne Borough Council’s Cabinet spokesperson for Environment and Tourism, Councillor David Elkin, says “As part of the ongoing work to both monitor and improve our service this type of information is imperative, especially when the results are so positive. It is good to know all our efforts are appreciated. "
As an added incentive for householders to respond to the survey, each completed questionnaire was entered into a £50 prize draw sponsored by SITA (UK) LTD. The winner of the £50 Marks and Spencer Voucher was Mr Hurd of Kingfisher Drive.
This year different socio economic groups were consulted through the survey; the results of degrees of satisfaction with the services are consistent with previous years.
