18 January 2007

Major local organisations, who are all members of the Eastbourne Construction Partnership, have now signed up to the Eastbourne Construction Training & Employment Charter - now it's your turn.

Eastbourne Borough Councillor Graham Marsden said, “The Borough Council is very keen to support, not only the personal development of individual skills but also to encourage the involvement of local companies in building our new town centre.   It makes sense to provide every opportunity for local people to make the most of their talents whilst contributing towards creating a better economic future for our town.”

Over the next few years there is potentially around £300 million in contract value to be gained by building companies.  This figure includes £100 million investment in the new Town Centre Regeneration Scheme and some of the contribution towards the housing target of 9,400 new homes in the Eastbourne and Hailsham area.

The aim of the voluntary Charter is to encourage local work to go to local businesses and the local jobs to go to local people.

The Partnerships message is 'Be Part Of It'.  All local businesses, small and large, are invited to join and it's free. Even if you are not in the construction industry your business can make an impact through your procurement procedures.

Benefits include free business support, PR and networking opportunities and in addition for those in the industry, up-to-date information on the latest procurement opportunities.
