Join The Mayor and Have A Ball

13 February 2007

The Worshipful the Mayor of Eastbourne, Councillor Colin Belsey, will be supporting his chosen charity the Eastbourne branch of the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution) at the Mayor’s Annual Charity Ball this year.
The event will take place in the Floral Hall at the Winter Garden, Eastbourne, on Friday 23rd March 2007, with the doors opening at 7.00pm for 7.30pm. Following a delicious three course dinner there will be the opportunity to dance to the lively sounds of Baypoint. There will be a special Grand Auction during the evening and raffle tickets will also be on sale.

Councillor Colin Belsey, says, “The RNLI provides a 24 hour lifesaving service around the UK and Republic of Ireland, and provides nine of ten sea rescue launches. The RNLI encourages  sea and beach safety which aims to save lives by changing attitudes and behaviour among people who use the sea regularly. It also educates children and young people on how they can help and stay safe on or by the sea.”

During his mayoral term Councillor Belsey has already raised £16,500 for the RNLI but he is hoping to reach his target of £20,000 by the end of May.

For the first time there will be special tables at the Ball for people who are attending the event on their own where they can join other singles for the evening.

Tickets in advance £30 each.  Black Tie/Dark Suit.  Carriages at midnight.
