Eastbourne Borough Council has introduced further expansion of recycling services at several of its main bring sites. Tetra-Pak Ltd has introduced beverage carton recycling banks at. Sainsbury on Cross Levels Way, Tesco on Lottbridge Drove, Waitrose in Old Town, Asda at Crumbles Retail Park and Hyde Gardens in the Town Centre. Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Spokesperson for Special Projects, Councillor Troy Tester says, “Tetra-Pak cartons are very bulky and can take up a lot of room in your bin. Being able to recycle the cartons will mean more room in your wheelie bin and less going to landfill.”
Eastbourne is the first authority in East Sussex to introduce recycling facilities for Tetra-Pak cartons. Cllr Troy Tester added “It's really positive to see Eastbourne at last becoming a recycling trailblazer in the county. Hopefully this will go some way to help meet our recycling targets.”
The Council continues the recycling revolution by also introducing bring sites for household batteries at. Wartling Road off the Sovereign Roundabout, Sainsbury on Cross Levels Way, Waitrose in Old Town, Hyde Gardens in the Town Centre, Asda at Crumbles Retail Park and Somerfield in Hampden Park. Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Spokesperson for Economy, Tourism and Environment Councillor Steve Wallis says, “Batteries are extremely toxic and are damaging to the environment if taken to landfill so it is extremely important residents have the means to dispose of them in an environmentally friendly way.”
