Grease Lightnin’ hits Eastbourne’s Bandstand

Get ready for summer lovin’ as the sounds of those “Summer Nights” hit Eastbourne’s Bandstand with a Grease tribute on Friday 17 August.

In a rock n’ roll extravaganza, the show also features hits from Buddy Holly and Elvis. And the rock n’ roll theme continues with local 50’s group Lucky Strike making the first of two appearances this summer for Rock N’ Roll Night on Saturday 11 August.

Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Member for Economy, Tourism & Environment, Councillor Steve Wallis said “It’s time to get jiving this week at the Bandstand with two great upbeat shows. But don’t forget the rest of the week’s programme offers something for all musical tastes.”

The week kicks off with Lewes, Glynde & Beddingham Brass performing on Saturday afternoon (11 August). After Lucky Strike’s Rock N Roll Night on Saturday, spend Sunday afternoon with Sussex Brass. Then get those union jacks ready for waving at Sunday Night on the Proms with Eastbourne Silver Band.

Monday is Gilbert & Sullivan Night, followed by the regular West End Musical choral concert on Tuesday evening with Concentus Chorale. Wednesday’s 1812 Firework Concert is provided by Wealdon Brass and Thursday sees the start of the Airbourne airshow and a special Big Band Sound with the Royal Air Force.

Tickets are available at the door. Alternatively advance tickets for Tribute nights and Wednesday night 1812 concerts only can be purchased from the Tourist Information Centre or by calling the Box Office on 01323 412000 (concessions available). Discounts are available for Friends of the Bandstand members – to join (free of charge) simply email the Bandstand, details can be found on the Bandstand website.

As well as performing this week, Lucky Strike will be returning to Eastbourne’s Bandstand on Saturday 15 September. And for rock n’ roll fans, there’s another Elvis tribute on Friday 24 August. For more information about the Bandstand programme visit the Bandstand website.
