Eastbourne Borough Council is part of the Eastbourne Construction Partnership and has therefore signed up to the Eastbourne Construction Training & Employment Charter.
The Pavilion at the International Lawn Tennis Centre, Devonshire Park complex is being refurbished. In alignment with the Charter’s code of practice, Eastbourne Borough Council have instructed two local businesses who have signed up to the Charter to carry out the works. These are LJB Lee Botting Ltd – Building Services and Electrotec (South East) Ltd – Security & Electrical Specialists.
Norman Kinnish Director of Economy, Tourism and Environment, says, “It is important for local businesses to sign up to the Charter. The construction industry is a growth sector and is facing a skills shortage. By working together we can:
Ensure the economic activity retains in the town to help the local businesses and residents
Promote the industry as a professional sector and as a career
Resolve training and recruitment difficulties.”
Other benefits for businesses include promotion and free business support.
