UK's Top Three Marathon Opens

Beachy Head Marathon
Wednesday 11 April 2007

Entries for Eastbourne’s 2007 Beachy Head Marathon which is to be held on 27 October are officially open.
Now in its fifth year it is anticipated to be a phenomenal success, last year filling the 1,750 available places well in advance of the day itself.

A favourite with readers of Runners World, they voted the Beachy Head Marathon as one of the top three marathons in the UK and with three categories for walkers, joggers and runners alike, not to mention a truly picturesque 26-mile route, the marathon has become an increasingly popular event.

Eastbourne Borough Council Director of Tourism, Economy & Environment, Norman Kinnish, adds “This event has become more and more popular year on year with entrants from all over the UK and overseas and with differing fitness levels taking part in this unique marathon experience.  It is a superb way to see our beautiful countryside and coastline whilst keeping fit, having fun and importantly raising vital funds for a chosen charity.”

The event, which is organised by Eastbourne Borough Council, is supported by Rix and Kay Solicitors who specialise in sports related legal work and are proud to be sponsoring the marathon for the second year, running alongside Eastbourne Hospitality Association (EHA).

Entrants can take advantage of the excellent facilities at St Bede’s School including a refreshing swim in the pool or a well deserved massage either before or after the course for a nominal fee. To keep spirits high entertainment has been organised around the route so grab your trainers and secure your place in this year’s marathon.
