Bandstand Opens for Season

Bandstand
4 April 2007

The Bandstand opens its doors again this weekend, kicking off the 2007 season with the return of the traditional Easter Sunday concert.

Performed by Eastbourne Silver Band, the music starts at 3pm and begins a summer long programme of Sunday afternoons filled with traditional music and a few family favourites along the way.

Eastbourne Borough Council Director of Economy, Tourism & Environment, Norman Kinnish said “The 2007 season promises to be better than ever and one of our busiest in recent years.  From 1 June we see the start of our first ever 18 week long peak season programme which includes the return of popular rock n roll nights, 1812 fireworks and tribute nights each and every week.  That’s six extra weeks worth of concerts to enjoy!”

Further afternoon performances throughout May also include May Day weekend concerts with Tony Strudwick Orchestra on Saturday, LGB Brass on Sunday and the return of Eastbourne Silver Band on May Day itself.  The Tony Strudwick Orchestra also makes a second appearance on Saturday evening with a special concert, all part of the Magnificent Motors weekend.

Sunday afternoons continue throughout May with All Saint’s Concert Band on 13 May and South West Surrey Concert Band on 20 May.  Whitsun includes a Night Art Trail from 8.30 – 10.30pm on Saturday and the traditional Bank Holiday Monday concert from Croydon Symphonic Band.

Afternoon concerts start at 3pm and cost just £3.50 per person or join Friends of the Bandstand free of charge to receive discounted tickets.
