Council Backs ‘Sshh’

Silent Student Happy Homes, Sshh campaign is being backed by Eastbourne Borough Council.  The campaign organised by the student union at Brighton University will target the youngsters as they travel home after an evening out.

Leader of Eastbourne Borough Council, Councillor Ian Lucas, said, “It’s brilliant that students themselves are taking this seriously, recognising that by working with other initiatives by the University, and the police this will be at least part of the solution to the problem of rowdy behaviour and noise on the way home from pubs and clubs.”

The student union have had meetings with the Council and local resident associations and are trying to take proactive measures to continue their good relationship in their local communities.

The union will also be putting posters up in the halls of residence and handing out lollipops at the end of nights out to keep students mouths occupied as they make their way home.  This is just one of the new initiatives the university is implementing to help the local environment.
