New Initiative Grants

Nearly two thousand pounds has been handed out to three groups as part of New Initiative Grants.  The new grants system was set up in February to provide one off grants to start up new projects or for new charities.

Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Spokesperson for Housing health and Community Services, Councillor Sandie Howlett says, “I am particularly pleased with the New Initiatives Grant - it can provide a much needed start up grant and I would urge groups or individuals to apply now if they have a project which meets the criteria.  As a Council we are really committed to helping so please apply or pass this information on if you know of a worthy cause.”

SAFE UK are to receive the biggest grant of this initial round getting a total of £999.00.  The Society of Eastbourne Artists will receive £550.00 and Shinewater Crusaders and Frenchgate Crusaders have been awarded £250.00.

Groups are now able to apply for a grant in the second round of the scheme - New Initiatives Grant 2006/07 - Round 2

Applications are welcome from individuals or groups who are either setting up a new project/scheme or who are planning a one-off event.  Applicants must be not-for-profit and applications should benefit the communities of Eastbourne.  The deadline for this round of funding is Monday 2nd October 2006.

Applications can be obtained by contacting Michele Monteith, Community Services Administrator on 01323 415441.
