Calling all budding food and wine critics! Win the ultimate accolade of seeing your critique featured in print as Eastbourne’s first food and drink festival, Feastbourne, searches out the best foodie writers in the town.
Open to amateur writers, ‘Eat Your Words’ will see the winning article featured in the December issue of Eastbourne Herald’s Instyle magazine as well as winning a case of wine courtesy of Cooden Cellars and a meal for two at the award winning Mirabelle Restaurant at the Grand Hotel, Eastbourne.
Eastbourne Borough Council Spokesperson for Tourism, Councillor David Elkin said “Food and drink is such a passionate subject for many people, whether you work in the kitchen yourself or simply enjoy a good meal with good wine. Perhaps it will be your favourite recipe or most treasured ingredient, or for keen connoisseurs a recently enjoyed meal or good bottle of wine – either way this is a chance for you to express your passion and inspire others!”
A panel of judges comprising Eastbourne Herald Editor Peter Austin, Grand Hotel Manager Jonathan Webley and Ian Jarman of Cooden Cellars will judge the best article based on writing quality, style, inspiration and innovation. The winner will be announced by the Mayor of Eastbourne at the Cooden Cellars Annual Wine Tasting on Saturday 21 October.
Feastbourne runs from 12 – 22 October at various venues throughout Eastbourne, featuring a wide range of events from wine tasting and real ales, to ‘Produce on the Prom’, ‘Fishcapades’ at Sovereign Harbour, an Elizabeth David tribute dinner, a series of cookery master classes and a Grand Hotel candlelit dinner and wine cellar tour. The event ends on Sunday 22 October with an indulgent master class and tasting session in chocolate from a Master Chocolatier.
Feastbourne is sponsored by Cooden Cellars, University of Brighton, Glyndebourne, Underground Theatre, SCS Marketing, Grand Hotel, The Waterfront, Eastbourne Hospitality Association, Eastbourne & District Chamber of Commerce and The Sussex Wine Company and supported by Eastbourne Borough Council.
