Eastbourne has been voted a Finalist in the category of Best UK Resort in the prestigious Group Leisure Industry Awards 2006. Over the past nine years, the South East Coast resort has been in the top three for the category six times and has won three of those times.
The award is voted for by readers of Group Leisure magazine and website users, and votes are based on coastal resorts in the UK that offer groups an unforgettable trip, with a range of things to see and do, group-friendly venues and attractions plus great accommodation, dining and beach options.
Eastbourne Borough Council Spokesperson for Tourism, Councillor David Elkin, says, “A lot of work goes into providing high quality customer care, organisation and group itineraries. The category represents Eastbourne’s success as a complete holiday package covering all aspects of the trip. We have breadth of quality amenities in the town so it is wonderful to receive awards for our Group Travel services and resort facilities.”
Group Leisure has around 12,000 readers and is the UK’s number one group travel magazine. Their Awards were launched in 1997 to reward the very best in the group travel industry.
Earlier in the year Eastbourne won “Most Group Friendly UK destination” at the 2006 Group Travel Awards. Eastbourne events are also of award winning quality as Airbourne 2006 achieved Finalist in “Best Event for Groups” category. Eastbourne Borough Council is in the process of extending their Travel Trade website to reflect their highly-regarded status in the Group Travel market.
