Eastbourne Borough Council’s Environmental Health service has just launched new online advice and support to help small businesses and new businesses starting up.
The new web pages bring together a range of free advice services, publications and interactive online tools to help small firms to understand and comply with regulations and improve their business.
An updated version of our Small Business Advice Pack is available to download free of charge. Publications and tools include start up guides and a performance indicator to check how you are doing and where you need to improve.
Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Spokesperson for Housing, Health and Community Services, Councillor Sandie Howlett says, “Health and safety does not have to be expensive, time consuming or complicated. Find out how it can mean better business. Improving health and safety can save you time and money by avoiding the costs of accidents and ill-health - you can protect your business as well as your workers.”
Contrary to some of the stories you hear, sensible risk management is about practical steps to protect people from real harm and suffering – not bureaucratic back covering, exaggerating trivial risks or stopping any activity that might possibly lead to harm. However, failure to manage real risks responsibly is likely to lead to robust action.
