Nearly six thousand pounds has been handed out to seven groups as part of the second round of New Initiative Grants. The new grants system was set up in February to provide one off grants to start up a new project/scheme or for a one off event.
Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Spokesperson for Housing Health and Community Services, Councillor Sandie Howlett says, “I am particularly pleased with the New Initiatives Grant - it can provide a much needed start up grant and I would urge groups or individuals to apply now if they have a project which meets the criteria. As a Council we are really committed to helping so please apply or pass this information on if you know of a worthy cause.”
Four groups were awarded grants of one thousand pounds each. The grants task group have asked officers to contact two groups not awarded grants during this round to discuss possibilities for next year’s budget and a third to explore partnership opportunities with the local Primary Care Trust.
Groups will soon be able to apply for a third round of grants as part of the New Initiatives Grant 2006/07
Applications will be welcome from individuals or groups who are either setting up a new project/scheme or who are planning a one-off event. Applications must be not-for-profit and benefit the communities of Eastbourne.
