Eastbourne Winter Garden has been chosen as the location for one of three South East 2006/2007 Group Travel Fairs. Held annually, the Tourism South East Group Travel Fairs take place at leisure and tourist attractions across the region.
The exhibition itself will be held in the prestigious Floral Hall on Saturday 11 November, attracting exhibitors from destinations, attractions, entertainment and accommodation providers across the South East.
Eastbourne Borough Council Spokesperson for Tourism, Councillor David Elkin, says, “Group Travel is a market which Eastbourne already performs successfully in. Being chosen to host a fair is a well deserved recognition for our services in this area and a recommendation for the suitability of the resort as a Group Travel destination.”
Sponsored by Group Travel Organiser magazine, over 25,000 invitations are distributed. The fairs aim to encourage quality trade visitors and enhance the group travel trade market, building on their success to provide visitors with valuable information and ideas for future group travel itineraries.
A familiarisation trip will also be available for trade to the surrounding area prior to the event, as well as short tours around Eastbourne on the day. Eastbourne is providing accommodation for the buyers attending this trip.
Eastbourne was voted “Best UK Resort” in 2005 and finalist in the same category in 2006. The town continued its success by winning “Most Group Friendly UK destination” at the 2006 Group Travel Awards. Eastbourne Borough Council is also in the process of extending their Travel Trade website to reflect their highly-regarded status in the Group Travel market.
