15 November 2006
Please note: the event below has been postponed until after February 2007 due to bad weather.
The Mayoress of Eastbourne, Miss Anna Belsey, is preparing for her charity parachute jump with the help of the town’s theatres. Anna will be flying in true Peter Pan style with the help of the back stage crew at the Congress Theatre and Extreme Locations. This will hopefully prepare the Mayoress for the real jump where she will freefall for 30 seconds at over 120mph and then glide underneath a parachute canopy.
Mayoress of Eastbourne Anna Belsey says, “I can’t wait to be strapped to a big RAF Falcon and be thrown out of an airplane 10,000ft in the air. I only hope it’ll be good weather on the day! I really want to double the money I raised at Halloween, so please sponsor this brilliant cause!”
The charity jump is one of the many things the Mayoress is doing during her year in the role to help raise money for the Mayor’s charity.
The Eastbourne RNLI are the chosen charity for this Mayoral year and the Mayoress has already raised over £600 for them.
Local firm CMS have kindly sponsored the cost of the Mayoress’s jump so all monies raised from the jump would go to the Mayor’s charity.
Donations in support of the Mayoress’s charity parachute jump can be sent to the Mayor’s Office at the Town Hall, Grove Road, Eastbourne or left at the reception (cheques payable to: The Mayors Charity Fund).
