Feastbourne calls on Sussex for Magic Ingredients

Feastbourne logo
Plans are brewing for Eastbourne’s major Food and Drink Festival, Feastbourne, and organisers are calling on Sussex businesses with a passion for cuisine to join the menu of events over the ten day celebration.

To be held during the 12-22 October 2006, the new event is designed as a showcase for local restaurants, pubs, hotels, retailers, producers, farmers and educationalists, in fact anyone who has an interest in nutrition; from organic farming to all out gourmet extravaganza!

Eastbourne Borough Council Spokesperson for Tourism, Councillor David Elkin, says, “With its ideal setting of countryside and coast, Sussex is a haven for fresh produce and fine food.  It is a privilege for Eastbourne to hold such a celebration and anyone with a passion for food and drink will be in their element.  We look forward to welcoming this as an annual event in Eastbourne’s calendar.”

Feastbourne is being co-ordinated by Cooden Cellars, Eastbourne Borough Council, University of Brighton, Eastbourne Chamber of Commerce, Eastbourne Hospitality Association and Waterfront Traders Association.

Features already include Valdespino Sherry Master Class and Sunday Lunch, Farmers and Producers Market, The Wine Debate, Eat Your Words (food review competition), Waiter’s Dash, Fishscapades at The Waterfront; all topped off by Nick and Ernie’s Open Tee competition to burn off all the extra calories.

Last year’s sell-out Beer Festival will kick off the celebrations on 12th October, with hotels offering a variety of discounted accommodation across the ten days.  Local pubs and restaurants are also being invited to take part with themed menus and special discounts, all of which will be detailed in the Feastbourne Programme.

Any businesses wanting to hear about the fantastic involvement opportunities available over Feastbourne are invited to attend a public showcase in the Hardwick Suite of the International Lawn Tennis Centre on Tuesday 30th May 2006 between 3.00 p.m. and 5.00 p.m.
