Residents Win Prizes In Direct Debit Draw

The Worshipful the Mayor, Councillor Colin Belsey, has now drawn the ten prize winning tickets following Eastbourne Borough Council’s successful Direct Debit take-up campaign.  A leaflet was sent out with the latest Council Tax bills to encourage 15,000 residents who pay their Council Tax by cash or cheque to make future payments by Direct Debit.

The Worshipful the Mayor of Eastbourne, Councillor Belsey, says, “I am delighted to be presenting these prizes. It saves a lot of administrative work within the Town Hall when people sign up for Direct Debit payments.”

The Mayor will present the winners with their prizes, donated by various businesses in the town, at a ceremony in the Assembly Hall at the Town Hall, on Thursday 25 May at 11.00am.

By the competition closing date of 7 April, 658 Council Tax payers had signed up to pay by Direct Debit, and were entered into the prize draw. Direct Debit is the most reliable way of paying Council Tax, as it is fast and efficient, and by being cheaper than the other ways to pay, savings made by Eastbourne Borough Council go towards keeping costs low.
