The Seafront area licensing application lodged by the Tourism and Leisure Department was recently approved by the council’s Licensing Sub Committee.
The application was made following a recommendation by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport that encourages authorities to licence areas of land to cover street events such as farmers’ markets, theatrical performances and other permitted activities.
The success of the application ensures that events within a designated area near the seafront are licensed in line with the requirements of the 2003 Licensing Act.
The licence will enable Eastbourne Borough Council to continue to support events that are safe, well-managed and financially sustainable, while enhancing Eastbourne’s seafront both for residents and for visitors to the town.
