Spring may have been late arriving this year but Eastbourne Borough Council’s Parks and Gardens have again excelled themselves with a magnificent Carpet Gardens display.
The spring bedding displays have created a superbly colourful show this year with nearly 37,500 wallflowers, pansies and polyanthus, inter-planted with tulips, announcing the arrival of spring.
These bright, vivid flowers add to the variety of the seafront gardens and make a perfect contrast to the permanent structure planting along other parts of the seafront.
They have been admired by residents and visitors alike and Councillor David Elkin, Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet spokesperson for Economy, Tourism & Environment, says, “This year I have been staggered by the quality of the Carpet Gardens in particular, as well as the other gardens throughout the town."
"The beautiful combination of flowers, in particular the tulips, have been absolutely stunning and I must congratulate Glendale on their outstanding work.”
These photos show the Carpet Gardens in all their glory, but you will have to be quick to see the spring display, before the gardens are made ready for the summer collection.
