HMS Puncher Sets Sail for Eastbourne
HMS Puncher will arrive in Eastbourne Harbour – one of its home ports - on Saturday 8
th April at 5.00p.m. There will be a number of VIPs on board including The Mayor and Mayoress of Eastbourne and small groups from the
Royal Naval Old Comrades Club
(RNOCC), Eastbourne Sea Cadets and Moira House Girls School. The VIPs will experience the ship in her natural environment and witness some aspects of naval operations.
The Worshipful the Mayor of Eastbourne, Councillor Graham Marsden, says, “I am looking forward to joining HMS Puncher for the journey from Brighton. Because of our links with the Navy I know that many residents look forward to her regular visits to Eastbourne every spring. I hope that during Sunday lots of people will take the opportunity to visit the ship in Sovereign harbour.”
The P2000 Patrol Vessel will take her VIPs onboard in Brighton Marina on Saturday 8th April at 12.30pm. and set sail at 1.00pm., arriving at Eastbourne Harbour at 5.00pm. Puncher will rendezvous with Eastbourne’s Life Boat and conduct some manoeuvres before being escorted into harbour. There will be a small reception on board in the evening.
The ship will be open to the public for viewing from 10.00am until 3.00pm on Sunday 9th April.
