Eastbourne Bandstand enters its concert season in style this week with two fantastic feature nights that mark the beginning of an entertainment packed summer.
The popular 1812 Firework Concerts will be running every Wednesday from 14th June to the 6th September, while Friday’s ‘Blues Brothers Revue’ will launch the first weekly Tribute night of the year. After a packed evening at last summer’s one-off ABBA night, organisers decided to make this a regular feature and have pulled out all the stops for a line up of truly sensational acts.
Eastbourne Borough Council Spokesperson for Tourism, Councillor David Elkin says, “The Bandstand is such an iconic focus for Eastbourne, and appearing in our new advertising campaign, it is bound to draw attention. Not only is it a splendid building but the fact that it still hosts such a varied programme of musical entertainment is superb. I look forward to some warm evenings and wonderful music!”
The Tribute evenings have generated a huge level of public interest and organisers are expecting record audiences. Doors and bar will open from 7pm with shows ‘lifting the curtain’ at 8pm. Audiences can expect to double take as a Robbie Williams tribute takes to the stage, sing along to the Staying Alive sounds of the Bee Gees and marvel at the ‘Kinda Magic’ only Freddie Mercury can conjure.
Each Wednesday will play host to a different brass and wind band, ending on a grand finale of the 1812 overture and a dazzling display of fireworks. Kent Police Band will be the first to appear and you can catch last year’s sell-out Central Band of the Royal British Legion on August 2nd.
It is advised to book early as concerts are often sold out. To reserve tickets at a reduced rate call the Congress Box Office on 01323 412000, or purchase tickets on the night of any concert.
