The Mayor Will Stand Silent

The Worshipful the Mayor of Eastbourne and fellow Councillors will mark a national two minute silence on the steps of the Town Hall.  The silence will take place at 12.00 noon on Friday 7 July 2006 exactly one year after the terrorist bombings in London

The Mayor of Eastbourne, Councillor Colin Belsey, says, “It will be a very difficult day for the many who lost loved ones last year and for those who will forever hold the memories of that dreadful day.

It is only right that we stand with those families and show our respect.

If any member of the public would like to join us on the steps next Friday, then please do.”

Members of the public are invited to mark the silence with the Councillors on the Town Hall steps.  The Union Flag will be flown at half-mast until the weekend.
