Childrens Deckchair
Following the success of its romantic double deckchair, Eastbourne tourism bosses are anticipating future deckchair demand with a new child sized offspring.

The ‘Wide Boy’ deckchair, made for “the loving couple - when two chairs are just too far apart” hit the headlines in 2005 and since then interest in the traditional English seaside deckchair has been so great that bosses have introduced a new edition for youngsters.

Eastbourne Borough Council Spokesperson for Tourism, Councillor David Elkin said “Eastbourne is already a popular resort for families, but with more young couples coming to Eastbourne, we anticipate many will return in the future with their children, fuelling a growth in family holidays to the resort.”

“Not only can children enjoy their own deckchair on our blue flag beach, but with a Kidzone wristband scheme and over £2 million recent investment into family attractions along the seafront, parents can be sure there is plenty to keep the kids safely amused.”

Costing just 75p to hire for the day, the new chairs will be available throughout the summer.  Tourism bosses anticipate the chairs will be so popular that they have ordered extra for sale as souvenirs.

Part of an ongoing overhaul of beach equipment, the resort is targeting families and couples aged 35+ in a ten year strategy to challenge outdated images of Eastbourne and secure additional new audiences for the future.
