Returning to the Bandstand is the Central Band of the Royal British Legion who will play three concerts on Sunday 30 and hosts the first of two firework concerts this week at Wednesday’s 1812 night. The Band goes on to present a Big Band night on Thursday 3 August with old favourites from Mack the Knife to New York, New York. There will be well loved music from the silver screen in their film night on Friday 4 August, including melodies from My Fair Lady, Titanic and James Bond and the second fireworks finale of the week will be sent into space by the Star Wars theme.
Eastbourne Borough Council Spokesperson for Tourism, Councillor David Elkin says, “Having such a full week of band music is fantastic for the bandstand. At this time of year, where better to enjoy live music than along the seafront in the open air? With concerts up to three times daily there will be something for everyone.”
Lancing Brass of the Royal British Legion will open the festival on Saturday 29 July with a 3.00pm concert, and that evening a Rock N Roll night brings some classic foot movers to the seafront. These are followed on Sunday 30 July with three concerts by the Central Band of the Royal British Legion and another on Monday afternoon. Then the Gilbert and Sullivan night on Monday 31 along with the Saxophone Quartet of the Central Band Royal British Legion on Tuesday 1 August will be jazzing up the bandstand. The closing concerts will feature Farnborough Concert Band, culminating in a Proms night on Sunday 6 August.
The week has a really vibrant line up and the concerts are sure to be a success so booking early will avoid disappointment.
