Animal Bike Tour joins Extreme action

Animal Bike Rider performs a stunt
Eastbourne Extreme will be notched up full throttle this year with the announcement that the Animal Braun cruZer³ Bike Tour 2006 is to headline the free festival on Sunday 23 July.

The legendary Animal Braun cruZer³ Bike Tour has travelled extensively across the UK, giving fans the opportunity to see top stunts live and unedited, and also have the chance to meet the riders.  Appearing at Eastbourne for the first time, Animal is part of a packed schedule of extreme events happening over July 22-23, organised by Eastbourne Borough Council and partners.

Eastbourne Borough Council Spokesperson for Tourism, Councillor David Elkin, says, “It is great to be able to welcome riders of such calibre to Eastbourne.  Their daredevil stunts are recognised across the world and to have them showcased live to all our residents and visitors is an honour.  Extreme just keeps getting better and better.”

Wowing crowds with its undisputed ‘King of the Rig’ set, the tour takes mountain biking demonstrations to awe-inspiring new levels, with displays from its two top riders.  Ex World and British Champion Martyn Ashton will be manoeuvring over table tops, ladders and pick up trucks while maestro Grant ‘Chopper’ Fielder will perform a series of breathtaking mid air stunts.

The 2005 Extreme festival pulled in crowds of over 25,000, who came from all over the region to marvel at the expertise of some of the top national and international stars.  Record numbers are expected to return this year, and with free skate hire from Wheely Good fun and the free Skate arena offering demos, classes and the opportunity to join in all forms of skating fun, everyone can get involved.

This year will also see the return of the UK Windsurfing Slalom Competition and the UKWA Freewave competition, while on land the British Federation of Sand & Yacht Clubs will be demonstrating their wind powered wheeled yachts and kite powered buggies.

Throughout the weekend entertainment will be on hand from the Southern FM Roadshow and live bands, including the fresh new talents of ‘Rip Chord’ and ‘Drowning By Numbers’; a licensed bar will be open from 11am – 5pm.

For a full listing of the weekends activities visit the Extreme website or telephone 0906 711 2212 (calls cost 50p per minute at standard rate).
