Raffle Prizes at Mayor's Charity Dinner

There are fantastic raffle prizes to be won at The Mayor’s Charity Dinner and Dance, which is in aid of the Mayor’s chosen charity, C.R.Y. (Cardiac Risk in the Young). Donated prizes already include a night for two at the top class Bonnington Hotel in London; dinner for two in the Garden Restaurant at the Grand Hotel, Family membership for a year at Devonshire Park Lawn Tennis Club, and ‘Keeper for the Day’ at Drusillas Park. The event will take place on Friday 17th March, 7.00 for 7.30p.m., in the Floral Hall, Winter Garden.

The Worshipful the Mayor of Eastbourne, Councillor Graham Marsden, says, “Tickets are selling quickly so do not delay in booking your place at the event of the year. I would like to thank all of those who have already donated prizes for what should be a bumper raffle. With four weeks to go it looks as if the evening is going to be a tremendous success, so do not miss out by not being there. Tell your friends and make up a table between you.”

An excellent three course dinner of smoked salmon and trout roulade, followed by demi poussin, and then a torte trio is being served by Red Eventful Cuisine. A delicious vegetarian option is also available.

“Pzazz”, an eleven piece band with a top class reputation and kindly sponsored by Shades Bistro, will be providing dance music to suit all tastes. Tango formation team “Los Tangueros” will give a demonstration at 8.45pm and a spectacular performance later in the evening.

The main purpose of the evening is to have fun whilst raising money to help reduce the tragic loss of young people to sudden death syndrome. Most people will be aware of at least one incident where a young adult has died without warning. Every week, eight apparently fit young people die from undiagnosed heart conditions.

Tickets are good value at £30 each and can be obtained by sending a cheque, made payable to “The Mayor of Eastbourne’s Charity”, to Miss B Chwatow, Mayor’s Office, Town Hall, Grove Road, Eastbourne, BN21 4UG. Or call 01323 415020. Individuals or couples are welcome to purchase tickets, plus, complete tables seating eight are also available.

CRY was chosen as this year’s Mayoral charity, not only because of its importance in raising awareness of this type of sudden death and providing support for grieving families, but also because a young Cavendish School student, known to the Mayor during his teaching career, died suddenly.
