Graffiti covering the side of the public toilets at Brassey Parade has been cleaned off by a council contractor. The Borough Council works hard to maintain its premises and takes a very dim view of people who cause vandalism to its buildings in this way.
Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet spokesperson for Economy, Tourism and the Environment Councillor David Elkin said, “As a result of this sort of anti social behaviour the council will be taking steps to empower its enforcement officers to issue fines to the perpetrators of this type of offence. Councillors as well as residents are fed up with seeing their efforts undermined by mindless yobs.”
The Council is becoming more concerned over the increase of graffiti across the Borough. A specialist company called Aquarius Solutions, based in Peacehaven carried out the work on this occasion due to the size of the graffiti. Aquarius use chemicals and high pressure water jets to remove graffiti.
Photos of the graffiti have been circulated by Sussex Police in an attempt to identify the person who caused this damage.
If residents see anyone spraying graffiti on anything they are asked to contact the police on 0845 60 70 999; the Council’s Community Enforcement Team on 01323 415934; or the Council’s Cleansing Group 01323 415229.
