The Bandstand is set for big crowds this Christmas as the traditional Christmas and Boxing Day concerts return, and it’s all completely free.
A long standing tradition, the concerts began in 1935 when The Bandstand was first built and have continued ever since. Organised by Eastbourne Borough Council, the concerts regularly attract around 4,000 revellers, with the more daring even enjoying a refreshing Boxing Day swim!
Eastbourne Borough Council Spokesperson for Tourism, Councillor David Elkin said “There is always such as great atmosphere at these concerts, from traditional carol singing to music that will really get you on your feet. It is a great celebration for the community and an added bonus for the many visitors spending their Christmas on holiday here.”
Eastbourne Silver Band provides the entertainment on Christmas Day from 10.45am to 12.15pm with classic Christmas carols in a traditional Christmas celebration. On Boxing Day escape the Christmas TV repeats and turkey leftovers with a performance from Sounds Easy as they play popular Christmas hits with plenty of mulled wine and dancing from 11am – 12.30pm.
On the day, audiences can also receive a copy of the 2007 concert programme, hot off the press. To receive priority information and an early copy of the programme by e-mail, join Friends of The Bandstand absolutely free on
