Rubbish Sponsor for Eastbourne Airshow

Eastbourne airshow’s latest sponsor is quite literally rubbish, following waste contractor SITA’s plans to give the show a helping hand - collecting rubbish for free with their very own truck formation team!

As well as litter picking and emptying bins free of charge at Airbourne, which returns from 17 – 20 August, SITA is also helping to promote the free show with posters of SITA trucks ‘in flight’ on all vehicles, in a humorous homage to some of the formation flying displays taking place.

Eastbourne Borough Council Spokesperson for Tourism, Councillor David Elkin said “With 800,000 visitors over four days, it is wonderful that contractors such as SITA are willing to give something back to the town.  Eastbourne is renown for being clean and litter free, so keeping the resort in tip top condition during our busiest week of the year is tough, however it is to the credit of the SITA team that the seafront looks so good even after hosting the world’s biggest seafront airshow!”

As well as a sparkling seafront, Airbourne visitors can look forward to over 80 flying displays including the F16, Eurofighter Typhoon, the spectacular Harrier hover and crowd favourite the RAF Red Arrows.  This year also features a new format Classic and Historics Thursday, featuring aircraft from WWII to present day, including a 70 year tribute to the spitfire.

SITA is just one of nine organisations sponsoring the show this year and features alongside Eastbourne Arndale Centre, City Sightseeing, Eastbourne & District Chamber of Commerce, Eastbourne Herald, Eastbourne Hospitality Association, Red Eventful Cuisine, Specsavers and the South East England Development Agency.

Radio Airbourne will be on air again this year thanks to Eastbourne Chamber of Commerce and the Sunset Ceremony will once again pay tribute to men and women throughout the armed forces with a concert and flypast, thanks to local tour bus company City Sightseeing.

Eastbourne Herald plan to spread the word throughout the Johnston Press newspaper group and local children could be flying high in an ‘Airbourne Art’ competition, with one lucky winner riding in a helicopter, thanks to Eastbourne Hospitality Association, who will also be sponsoring the Eurofighter Typhoon.
