Merchant Navy Day Memorial Service

The Worshipful the Mayor Eastbourne, Councillor Colin Belsey will be reading the lesson at the Merchant Navy Day Memorial Service on Sunday 3 September at 3pm at St Saviour’s and St Peter’s Church in South Street, Eastbourne.
 
The Merchant Navy Association was established in 1989 and is the oldest national Merchant Navy lobby group in the country. The Association has achieved a growing reputation for promoting issues, gaining recognition and developing awareness in career opportunities, welfare, research and of course Veterans. The Association guarantees to continue to listen, to learn and to support the needs of its members both near and far whether ashore or afloat.
 
The Mayor, Councillor Belsey, says "I was very pleased to be asked to attend this service in memory of all merchant seafarer’s who gave their lives in the service of the Merchant Navy in both times of war and peace."
 
Following the service the Mayor will meet members of the Standard Bearers party.
