Following a meeting today between Eastbourne Borough Council, Sussex Police and the Organisers of the Shinewater Park Funday, those planning the fun day have decided to scale down the event and run it on similar lines to that of the two preceding years. Organisers decided to revise proposals for a large capacity event, amid concerns over safety of the event.
Cllr Sandie Howlett, Cabinet Spokesperson for Housing, Health and Community Services, said, "Community events are a welcome addition to the towns vibrant calendar and we recognise the diverse range of activities available across the town. However, it is important that all requirements to ensure the health and safety of the public and those who take part in the activities are met, prior to any event going ahead."
