A death certificate will show the following information which can be useful in family history research:
- The registration district, the sub-district and the county
- The year
- The date and the address of the death
- The name and surname of the deceased
- The sex of the deceased
- The age of the deceased
- Occupation. May state if the deceased was retired.
- Cause of death and who the death was certified by.
- The signature, description (i.e. relationship to deceased) and address of the informant. May also state if the informant was present at the death.
- The date the death was registered
- The signature of the registrar
Ordering Copies of Certificates
Eastbourne Borough Council does not issue death certificates.
You can get certificates for Eastbourne from the Eastbourne Register Office when Parish details and dates are known.
The General Records Office also now offers the facility to order certificates online.
Burial Records
