Coca-Cola, together with recycling group WRAP unveiled a spectacular work of art made solely from thousands of used aluminium cans, to mark Recycling Week 2009.
The 1940's style artwork was layed on top of the Seven Sisters chalk cliffs at Eastbourne. The design, best viewed from the air was used to encourage people to recycle and to remind them of the value of recycling cans and bottles.
The work, which took seven days to complete and involved 100 volunteers to position and collect the cans up afterwards, was dubbed 'Precious Metal'.
Eastbourne's Film Liaison Unit
Eastbourne Borough Council's Film Liaison Unit played their part in the organisation of the event by:
-
finding the location for the filming company
-
providing them with support to shift equipment across the downland using 4x4 vehicles
-
making sure there was no damage to the environment in the area of outstanding natural beauty
-
providing a safe landing site for the helicopter
-
agreeing a helicopter flight plan which limited noise annoyance to residents and visitors
