The Council embraces the spirit of the Freedom of Information Act and will always try to provide all the information you have requested where possible; however, the Act does detail 23 exemptions from disclosure.
These exemptions are broken down into 7 Absolute Exemptions and 16 Qualified Exemptions.
Where Absolute Exemptions apply the Council will not be able to supply the information requested.
Where a Qualified Exemption applies the Council may consider the request using the Public Interest Test before deciding whether the information that you have requested will be released or withheld.
