The Freedom of Information Act (2000) received Royal Assent on 30th November 2000 and came into force on 1st January 2005.
This legislation gives the general right of access to all types of recorded information held by public authorities, sets out exemptions to that right and places a number of obligations on public authorities to provide information to the general public.
Publication Scheme
The Freedom of Information Act requires every public body to adopt and maintain a Freedom of Information Publication Scheme setting out the information it holds and those publications available to the public.
The Publication Scheme also indicates the manner in which Eastbourne Borough Council intends to publish information, whether a charge will be made and how you can obtain the information.
