The Environmental Information Regulations (2004) give the public the right to access to environmental information held by public authorities.
The regulations allow you to access information about:
The state of the environment
Emissions & discharges
Measures & activities likely to affect the environment
The state of human health
Like the Freedom of Information Act (2000), the Environmental Information Regulations also set out a series of exemptions to the right of access and place a number of obligations on public authorities to provide information to the general public.
