Personal Data shall be obtained only for one or more specified and lawful purposes, and shall not be further processed in a manner incompatible with those purposes.
Data must be obtained by the Council for a specified use and cannot be processed for any reason outside of the original purpose for collecting the data.
In determining whether any disclosure of Personal Data is compatible with the purpose or purposes that the data was o riginally collected for, the Council has to consider the purpose or purposes for which the Personal Data is intended to be used by the person to whom they are disclosed.
The Council will inform individuals of the purpose(s) for which it processes their Personal Data and will seek consent where this is appropriate or required by law. Where data is used for other purposes the individual will be informed of this. There are two ways in which the Data Controller may specify the purposes for which the data is processed:
In a notice given to the Data Subject in accordance with the Fair Processing Code, or
Registering with the Information Commissioner.
