Born 22nd August 1928 at Chelmsford Hall, Carlisle Road, Eastbourne. Third, and youngest, son of Colonel Leonard Stevens OBE, TD, DL, JP, and Mrs Nancy Stevens.
Educated at Knockmaroon Kindergarten, Enys Road, and St. Augustine’s pre-preparatory school, Chesterfield Road to 1937, then Aldwick Grange, Crowborough and Eagle House, Crowthorne, preparatory Schools to 1942.
