The Worshipful the Mayor, Councillor Greg Szanto, has chosen to support Eastbourne & South Wealden Multiple Sclerosis Society during his Mayoral year.
The Eastbourne & South Wealden Multiple Sclerosis Society is a self-funding branch of the national Multiple Sclerosis Society of Great Britain & Northern Ireland. They were founded in Eastbourne in 1972.
Their aim is to look after all people affected by Multiple Sclerosis (MS), this includes the person with MS, their adult or young carer and their families. Priority is given to improving all aspects of health and social care, and to that end they support a MS Specialist Nurse and partnerships are formed with the statutory sector. They work to ensure that a diagnosis of MS does not lead to social exclusion.
Eastbourne MS Community Centre
Their centre, in St Leonards Road, is independently funded by private trusts and local organisation, and serves as a base from which they launch services for all the people affected by MS. Services they currently fund include:
