Private Housing Renewal Policy 2011-2013 - find out more about the types of assistance available under the policy
Private Housing Renewal Policy 2011-2013 draft policy

Consultation closed 17 August 2011

We welcome your comments on our draft 2011-2013 Private Housing Renewal Policy and Assistance programme.

The policy sets out how the council will achieve its key aims for private housing for the two financial years 2011 to 2013.

What are the Aims of the Policy?

The policy will provide a framework of support and advice for vulnerable householders whose homes are in disrepair or are inadequate for their needs.

It will continue to prioritise improvement of the energy efficiency of properties within the town and to make affordable warmth available to certain older people who are at the greatest risk.

The council will continue to provide ‘front end’ advice, support and signposting to enable full consideration of the various housing options. These will range from Disabled Facilities Grants, recyclable loan products, private and social housing vacancies, retirement housing to buy or rent, floating support and accommodation based support options.
