This consultation on the Gambling Policy Statement ran from Friday 7 August 2009 until Monday 18 September 2009. Consultation has now closed and the completed Gambling Policy Statement has now been published.
Introduction
The Gambling Act 2005 requires the council to publish a statement of the principles which it proposes to apply when exercising licensing functions under the Act. This is published at least every three years and will be reviewed from time to time.The draft currently being consulted on covers the period 2010-2013.
Eastbourne Borough Council, as the Licensing Authority, must carry out its functions with a view to promoting the gambling licensing objectives.Each application will be considered on its own merits, but due regard will be had to the Act, regulations, Council Statement of Principles and Codes Of Practice.
In the drafting and formulation of the Gambling Act Statement of Principles, the council must consult widely on the proposal, obtaining comments from those defined as Responsible Authorities, Interested Parties and others as appropriate.. The Statement will then be revised where necessary, published and adopted within specified timescales.
