Private Housing Renewal Policy Consultation

Private Housing Renewal Policy

Consultation Closed on 3rd October 2008

The Private Housing Renewal Policy sets out how Eastbourne Borough Council will achieve its key aims for private housing for the three financial years 2008 to 2011.

Through funding from central Government and working with other local housing authorities in Sussex via the Brighton and Hove and East Sussex Together Partnership (BEST), the Council will aim to:

  • Target resources where they are most needed

  • Increase the proportion of vulnerable people (including families with children) living in decent, warm and safe homes in the town

  • Help bring long term empty eyesore properties back into use

  • Pilot an innovative approach to providing options to assist older and disabled people to live independently, safely and happily

  • Improve the energy efficiency of private housing, reduce the number of families affected by fuel poverty and help reduce the town’s CO2 emissions through insulation and the development and implementation of renewable technologies
